Overview :

Render 3D objects to look like 2D sprite art in real time.

Highlights:

  • Per-object pixelization: mixing scenes of pixelated and unpixelated objects. Individual objects may be pixelated into “macropixels” of up to 5×5 screen pixels in size.
  • Per-object outlines: Outlines can be blocked in color or tinted and controlled separately for each object. supports both silhouette and normal-based outlines.
  • No pixel creep: when using orthographic projection
  • Lighting and shadows: including shadows cast between pixelated objects and unpixelated objects.

Requirements:

  • Only for Universal Render Pipeline.
  • The latest version of ProPixelizer has been tested with Unity 2022.2.1f1 and URP 14.0.4, Unity 2021.3.16f1 and URP 12.1.8, and with Unity 2020.3.43f1 and URP 10.10.1.
  • Performs a postprocessing effect on pixelated objects, which is implemented through an included render feature.
  • Although alpha cutout and dithered fading are supported, pixelated objects must be opaque.
  • The post-processing pipeline samples the screen buffer in a 5×5 pattern. Performance may be slow on low-end hardware.
